COMMENTARY

The American Legion's success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves & the communities in which it thrives. Introduce a veteran friend to our post. New members bring with them, new energy and new ideas to help sustain the post.

HOUSE

Dedicated members of the house committee have been working hard to keep our post home in tip top shape. We know that not everyone has the time to volunteer on the house committee, but all members can police the area where they sat prior to leaving the canteen or picnic area. Many hands make light work. Please help to keep our post home clean.

Presidents Niche

Thank you for re-electing me as your president of Unit 16. Also thank you for the great officers I have to work with this year.

September is here so let us not forget the 15th anniversary of 9-11. Please do something nice for someone in public service if you know them or not. As for Veterans Day Friday November, 11th do something special for a Vet. It can be as little as saying “Thank You For Your Services” that means so much to a Veteran.

Well I hope this will be a good year for all. Feel free to call me directly at (203) 767-6226 for any Unit 16 Auxiliary question and/or concerns

Hug a Vet!

OBSERVATIONS

Once again, our annual Sons picnic was a great success and everyone had a great time. A special thanks to Legionnaire Billy Hill and all those Sons who gave their time to help. The hot dog shed for the horseshoe season on Monday and Wednesday is past mid-season and has been very successful.

ACTIVITIES

In June we sent two young men to Boy’s State. Members of our Squadron assisted the Legion's Lobster Fest.

Our Squadron not only achieved 100% membership, we set an all-time high 123 members. Take advantage of our new dues program and pay by October 1st.
